MY FRIENDS YOUR FRIENDS OPEN HOUSE FILMING AT RISE

Date: This Friday 17th March 2017
Location: Rise Dubai Creek Harbour - See on Google Maps
Time: 10am - 4pm

A bunch of hosts will be hanging out this Friday at the My Friends Your Friends pod at RISE festival. Come along anytime and be interviewed for 10 minutes about your stories, interests and goals.

Inside the pod, we've built a lounge (kinda like Wayne's World). It's an open house and the videos will be you and a host talking about anything you like. We're keen to give back and showcase some of the amazingly talented and friendly people we have in our community. Videos will later be posted to YouTube, Facebook and played in the pod itself the next day.

It's going to be a lot of fun! To come down for an interview - just fill in the box below.  You can use the video wherever you like afterwards.

Also, the bromance continues with Tim & Richard at FTEN Productions who'll be on-site shooting another wrap up video!

Don't miss out - this is going to be freakin' awesome!!

So, what do you do?

Guided by the motto “learn continuously, live generatively,” I am a business instructor, instructional designer, and corporate trainer with extensive experience as a writer, speaker, and consultant. Skilled in learning management systems such as Blackboard, Canvas, eCollege, edX, and Moodle, I develop and teach communication, management, and marketing courses for adult learners online, on campus, and in blended learning environments. In corporate settings, I conduct business communication, decision-making, and social media marketing workshops. I have taught marketing and management courses to undergraduate students here in Dubai since September 2014.

Where have you lived before Dubai?

Massachusetts (Boston) and California (San Francisco, Santa Barbara, and Los Angeles).

What's a common problem that you find easy to solve?

Organizing and communicating information through the written word. My first book, edX E-Learning Course Development, is a 300-page user manual that was published in 2015 to help teachers and trainers design, develop, and deploy MOOC courses on the edX platform. I have also authored scholarly papers, feature articles, and Doctorious—a blog about my adventures in academia. I have a few unfinished novels and am often inspired to write a poem or short story.

Describe your perfect day.

A perfect day for me starts in the late afternoon: if I didn’t have anywhere to be in the morning, my day would start around 3PM and end roughly 12 hours later. The day itself would be loosely scheduled and flexible with zero meetings, but would include lots of writing, creating, and learning with just my special someone by my side. As much as I enjoy the energy of teaching and training, more and more I crave time to focus and create knowledge that I can share with others – without having to meet with them about it!

What did you want to be when you were 8 years old?

There’s a popular meme that states “Always be yourself, unless you can be Batman. Then always be Batman.” However, I’ve always wanted to be Superman.

LOBITO BRIGANTE

So what do you do?

I create new ideas from existing cultural frameworks. I organise & curate cultural events. I push for youth & adult empowerment through hip hop culture and its elements. I DJ but not in the way that everybody claims to DJ nowadays, I take the artform seriously, I find original records and manipulate them in unique ways, I scratch, I beat juggle and do everything in my power to use the turntable as a musical instrument. I create sets to broaden minds and share the experience of discovery and learning that I have experienced myself.

What’s a common problem you find easy to solve?
Making things look good. I tend to act as a creative director to every aspect of my life and find that I can do that well for other people. Whether it’s photographing a space to capture it’s best features or creating Instagram content for a brand, I like to incorporate an elevated level of artistry into everything I create.

Describe your perfect day
Waking up in Porto to the sound of seagulls, drinking coffee on the balcony overlooking a hilly side street of the city. Grabbing my film camera and going exploring - no deadlines, no agenda, just walking around and taking pictures of interesting moments. I’d end the day watching the sun set over the river with good food and good company.

Describe your perfect day

I'd wake up in Bali, with no alarm clock. The sun would be shining, and I'd walk over to an outdoor table full of all my nearest and dearest friends and family (it would be a pretty huge table). We'd share a healthy feast of breakfast dishes, and Kygo would be playing a live DJ set in the background just for us!

I'd then go scuba diving and come back to land as the sun sets, just in time for a beautiful BBQ dinner. Now Alicia Keys is singing live while playing the piano, and finally I'd fall asleep in a tent on the beach by the water. What a day!

What did you want to be when you were 8 years old?

Easy peasy - an Interior Designer. This is the one thing I've known and felt for the longest time.

Be home early enough to check out what was taken during the day and get an early night to be able to wake up the next day to edit from the previous day :)
